Great powder, subpar packaging changes

I’ve been using this powder for many years and ever since the packaging changed, it might be a reason I stop buying it. The old container used to have a twisting wheel once you opened the lid, which would help prevent excess powder from being released into the container. I most recently purchased the powder again and there is no longer that twisting wheel. I am really not a fan of the new packaging as the powder constantly leaks out of the container itself despite the internal part of the lid looking like it could act as a “cork” or cover to prevent the powder from being released. I brought this powder on my travels and had to put it in a separate plastic bag to prevent my other products from getting dusty. The minute it is not sitting on a flat surface (especially in the beginning when there’s a full container), too much powder is released and gets into all the crevices of the lid leading to a big leak once you open it. Love the powder itself but unfortunately not the packaging changes.

We’ve passed your feedback along to the brand directly, and we also want to share a few tips that may help with this style of loose powder packaging moving forward:

Keeping the jar upright is ideal, although we completely understand this is not always realistic, especially when travelling, and honestly we feel the same way when we are on the go!

If the jar has been tipped or stored on its side, gently tapping it on a counter a few times before opening is the trick. This settles the powder back down into the bottom. We often do this in-store. Then, the main hack here, is to let it sit for about a minute before opening so the powder can settle. This helps prevent that initial “poof” of excess product that can happen when the lid comes off.

Once opened, we recommend using a fluffy powder brush and picking up product directly from what has collected in the lid only. In most cases, this small amount is more than enough for a full application and also gives you much more control. This is exactly how we use it in our in-store consultations.

Holy Grail Prep + Finishing Powder for 40+ Skin

As a retired esthetician and makeup artist, I am PICKY + CHOOSEY when it comes to anything skincare or makeup. I was on the search for a powder that wasn't dry, chalky, or colour-depositing. I wanted something I could use under my eyes that wouldn't settle into fine lines or make my face look "powdered." I also wanted shine control and something that wouldn't result in clogged pores. THIS IS IT! This powder is light as can be - a light sweep over the face and eyes sets concealer perfectly. It's also great at controlling shine without disrupting makeup or depositing more product/colour. I've also just discovered that it works great to prime oily skin or T-Zone BEFORE and after applying liquid/cream concealers that you don't want moving around after a few hours of wear. It's great stuff and zero pore clogging!
