We are a small business with a big reach. Our store at Uptown Shopping Centre in Victoria offers a carefully curated selection of natural and effective makeup, skincare, and personal care products, and our online store serves customers across Canada. We believe in taking the confusion out of switching to healthy beauty and making every customer feel welcome, understood, and supported, whether they’re in the store, on the phone, or shopping online.

The Role

As a Makeup Artist & Beauty Educator, you will create meaningful customer experiences through personalized makeup and skincare consultations, product education, and makeup applications.

This is a hands-on, customer-facing role. You’ll work with both walk-in customers and booked appointments, helping people discover products that suit their individual needs, preferences, and lifestyles. As part of a small team, you’ll also support our e-commerce side of the business, helping with online orders and assisting customers who call in from across Canada. You will also have opportunities to participate in special events, seasonal promotions, social media, and community initiatives throughout the year.

Key Responsibilities

Makeup Artistry & Consultations

  • Provide personalized makeup applications for walk-in customers and booked appointments
  • Conduct skincare and beauty consultations, understanding each customer’s needs and recommending suitable products
  • Help customers discover new products, techniques, and routines
  • Create welcoming, comfortable, and enjoyable consultation experiences

Customer Experience & Sales

  • Deliver exceptional, thoughtful, and genuine customer service
  • Build relationships with customers and encourage long-term loyalty
  • Educate customers about our brands, ingredients, and product philosophies
  • Confidently recommend products and support store sales goals
  • Handle customer questions and concerns with empathy and professionalism

E-commerce & Customer Support

  • Pull, organize, and help manage online orders
  • Assist customers calling in from across Canada with product questions, recommendations, and order support
  • Support customer service email communications as needed
  • Contribute to social media content and engagement

Events & Team Collaboration

  • Participate in in-store events, makeup demonstrations, and special promotions
  • Support the team in maintaining an organized, welcoming, and beautiful retail environment
  • Stay current with beauty trends, techniques, new products, and industry developments
  • Contribute ideas and work collaboratively to improve the customer experience

Experience & Qualifications

  • At least 2 years of experience in the beauty industry
  • Strong makeup application skills and an understanding of makeup techniques
  • Knowledge or experience in skincare and beauty consultations
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both in person and over the phone
  • A genuine interest in natural, healthy beauty and willingness to develop product knowledge

Additional assets:

  • Professional makeup artistry training or certification
  • Previous experience in small business or independent retail
  • Experience working with natural or healthy beauty brands
  • Experience with makeup events, demonstrations, or customer education
  • Experience with e-commerce order fulfillment, customer service email, or social media

Schedule & Availability

  • Part-time position: 16 to 24 hours per week
  • Must be available to work at least one weekend day
  • Availability for evening shifts throughout December is required
  • Some additional evening availability will be required for special events throughout the year
  • Flexible scheduling based on business needs
  • Start date: as soon as possible

Compensation

  • $21.25 to $23.25 per hour, based on experience, plus tips
